AF6 and ABPBH

Watch the Af6 concert on Saturday and ABPBH on Sunday. Generally all the AF6 performances were forgettable. That's all I can say. The girl who's supposed to be out is out, good riddance. I hope soon it'll be Naim and then Toi. By the way Toi looks like one of Lat's friends during his childhood years, the one with the big set of teeth.
The ABPBH award show was so-so. The two hosts were a bit too much for my liking. Too much screaming, too much acting, too much colour on the oufit, just plain too much. I think Ogy announced Datuk Yusni Jaafar name instead of Datuk Yusni Hamid. Tak buat homework ke? Tak gali ke? The three presenters, Zul something, Sharifah Shahira and the other person were just plain annoying and rude I would say.
Anyway Mawi won another car and this one is even better. A Peugeot 407. Mother&^%W son of a &^^%.

Konsert AF6 1

Akhir sekali, 'What's with the hairdo?" Awak ingat cantik ke.

Aliff

Hmmm...nampak sangat awak takut.

Toi

Persembahan awak teruk. Saya tak setuju dgn pengkritik lain yang memuji awak.

Apa pun konsert semalam tak exciting permulaannya. Aku noticed macam tak ade flow, rather choppy. AC Mizal a bit stiff and robotic. Nasib baik ada Nadia, Stanly, Riz dam Nubhan, kalau tidal harus hancus konsert tu. Apasal stage nampak kecik sikit.

MB Terengganu

Idris Jusoh dan kuncu-kuncu nya biadap. Idris Jusoh tu memang biadap dari dulu lagi maka sebab tu Sultan pun tak berkenan melantik dia semula. Siapa pun boleh tahu ler yg penyokong2 dia akan kerugian sesuatu kalau dia tak menjadi MB lagi. Dulu Kit Siang nak boycot swearing in ceremony di kata biadap. Dia mintak maaf dan tak pun boycott the ceremony. Ni orang UMNO pulak yang dah boycott. Biadap. Sultan Terengganu mesti ada sebab kenapa Tuanku tidak memilih Idris, begitu juga dgn PM yg mempunyai sebab2 tertentu kenapa dia berdegil untuk memilih Idris.
Dulu aku menyokong Pak Lah, sekarang aku mempersoalkan kebolehan dia. Mungkin kah dia perlu turun?
Apa pun padan muka BN terutama ahli2 UMNO yang lupa diri, yang sombong dan bongkak, dan yg lupa tujuan sebenar UMNO di tubuhkan.

SPM

Compared to SPM results of recent years to those way back in the 70s and 80s there is a marked increase in the number of students getting 7As to 21As. Of course 21As was not heard of back then. I salute those students from rural schools, poor families and anyone coming from disadvantaged background and circumstances scoring many As. However, for those coming from residential and urban schools it's really a no big deal to me, in fact sometimes to me it has absolutely no meaning. I am just not impressed. Here are my opinions-mere conjectures, unempirically drawn-as to why there are more students getting many As nowadays:
  • Yeah...probably children are smarter today. With advances in food technology, educated parents, children may be genetically more intelligent today.
  • Extra classes and tuition classes. Way back then tuition centres were rare and one-to-one tutoring was only for the affluent.
  • Abundance of books on how to answer SPM questions on all subjects. All they need to do is invest in a few books which could pratically cover all the possible questions that could be asked in the examination. I believe the type of questions asked have been exhaustive that the exam board just need to change the numbers and the sentence structure.

To some SPM was/is the key to a better future. Yes, with excellent results you can choose any major that you want to pursue in any universities and get the scholarship that you desire. However, scoring high in SPM does not mean that you will also get high grades in your university. The learning requirements of a college course can be different from those of a secondary school subjcet which may be a difficult for some to adapt. Also getting many As in SPM does not guarantee that you'll be successful in life. If you're a woman, you may get married, give birth to many children and you'll end up being a housewife since can't bear the thought of being leaving your children to your maids. One person from my school who currently is holding top management post of a big company came from the last science class. He was not known to be one of the smart kids in school. Yet he is successful now. Some people are just late bloomers. They may not do well in exams whether in school or at the university but they may do well in their job and businness.

AF6 and the New Cabinet

AF6 has started. I watch the first two episodes of Diari and they were pretty boring. Perhaps they are showing the same thing over and over again. I think they should add dramas like cat fights, reprimands, backstabbing or something exciting like someone picking his/her nose etc. and not mere boring lessons made worse by bored students trying hard to keep awake. I think I'm not going to watch a lot the diaries this season. (This is what I feel at the moment, I will reconsider later). At the moment I don't have a favourite based solely on talent. I do like one solely based on looks. And I do have one that I already hate and he is Naim. Can't stand the hairdo, ugly and ridiculous. (Sometimes I can't help it but to be irrational) Toi look rather dumb. In fact the male line up is pretty ugly with the exception of one or two. I wonder what will those who are married do when they are horny. Well, I wonder about the single ones also.
The new Cabinet has been formed. Rafidah is out, not a surprise, been waiting for her exit. Wonder what will happen to her cronies and family. Radzi and Khalid are out, not a suprise too especially with the event that took place in Perlis on the two appointments of the MB. Dafi's father is a full minister now. Someone commented on his blog that it is probably a right move since reality shows are popular among teenagers or 'belias'. I'm not really interested in politics, in fact sometimes I hate it, especially when I hear politicians' devious and evil intentions and plans. I'm more of a follower. Thus, I can't make intellingent analyses and comments on the Malaysian political scenes.

Joining the Bandwagon of Donut Buying (and blogging about it)

Went to Subang Parade today immediately after Friday prayer with the intention of looking at handphones and PDAs. After taking a look at some of the handphones and PDAs I became confused so I went to look at other shops there. Then I stumble upon a donut shop, Big Apple Donuts and Coffee at what used to be Delifrance. Saw people lining up to buy these donuts but the line wasn't long. So I took a look at the donuts they are selling and they looked colourful. I've read a lot of blogs that mentioned about a new donut shop named J something at the Pavillion. They wrote the donuts there are so good and addictive that the line would already be long the moment the shop is opened. So I decided to buy some donuts at the Big Apple but then I decided not to since I'm not a donut person. Instead I went to have iced coffee, karipap and the melt-in-your mouth kaya toast at Uncle Lim Kopitiam. But then when I'm about to leave Subang Parade I decided to buy the donuts from BA. Thus, I have joined the bandwagon of designer donut buying and blogging about it (copycat, catch a rat gitu). Here are some pictures I took once I reached home.

The Box

The Donuts

The one at the top left is Durian flavoured, that's why it's thorny. I think it is called Duren Duren as in Duran Duran (The reflex, flex..flex...flex...plex...plex...pliak..pliak..pliak...buah pliak). It has a strong durian taste since the durian itself has a strong flavour. Not for those who do not like durians, of course.

I think the one the top right is called California Almond.

The one below the Duren Duren is I think Mango Tango. Below it is the Semi-Glaze. Next to it is Snowy or Snow flakes or Snow something, powdered sugar at the top with a creamy vanilla filling. Can't remember what the cholocolate covered one is called. So far I've eaten three and they were good. Nevertheless, I don't think I'm addicted to them but will buy them to bring to people who invite me for a meal. I still like my 'Cuk Kria'. You get 3 for RM1.00.

They're going to open one on Pavilion...hmm...

One a totally different note, I didn't know that they are selling IPhones now in Malaysia. At the end of last year I was thinking of asking my friend who worked in Singapore to buy one there for about SD800. It was supposed to be the 'unlocked' version. With this version you can't download anything from the Internet. If you try to it will automatically locked your phone and you will not be able to use it anymore. Since that was the case I scraped the idea of purchasing one.
According to the Jinjang Joe salesboy at the shop, you can download things from the Internet with the ones sold here. However, there is no warranty and if anything happens to the phone you have to send it to the States, hmmm. The cash price is RM2050.
Well, I was actually looking for the new Samsung F700. It is not available yet in Malaysia. Sigh.

Perak MB

I knew it, I knew it...the people of the bloody rocket party are racists. They have always wanted to turn Malaysia into a Republic, like Singapore, and to rid off the Malay Sultans, in other words the Constitutional Monarch system. Already they want to get rid of DEB. It is true that no one is made poor by DEB. At my workplace I see Chinese men doing all the renovations even when the contract went to a Bumi company. We will just have to wait and observe the fate of the Bumis in Penang.
LKS and his son are pigs. Go ahead and vote them again in the next GE morons!

American Idol 7

I'm a fan of reality TV and I'm not embarassed about it. Why should I? AI7 had its first final 12 performance yesterday. All that I thought and hoped would not make it to the final 12, especially bitchy Danny Noriega, didn't and I'm happy about it. Overall, most of the performances were very good. David Archuleta who I was hoping to do good, didn't. He forgot the lyrics. Even before that he admitted that he was extremely worried about singing a 60s song-yesterday's theme was Lennon and McCartney songs. But he' s still cute and that Aussie is a hunk of burning yum. Based on yesterday's performance I think these are the constestants likely to be eliminated today or I think should be eliminated - Kristy Lee Cook or whats her name (the country version just didn't work), or the Filipino girl (utterly boring). Maybe David Hernadez (for overdoing it). We'll see later.

Search the Internet and David Hernandez was voted out.

Godley and Creme -Cry

(Godley & Creme)

You don't know how to ease my pain
You don't know
You don't know how to ease my pain
You don't know what the sound is darlin'
It's the sound of my tears fallin'
Or is it the rain?
You don't know how to play the game
You cheat
You lie
You make me wanna cry
You make me wanna cry
Cry...
You make me wanna cry

You don't know how to ease my pain
You don't know
You don't know how to ease my pain
Don't you hear any voices cryin'?
That's the sound of my love dyin'
Here comes the rain
You don't know how to play the game
You cheat
You lie
You don't even know how to say goodbye
You make me wanna cry
You don't know
You don't even know how to say goodbye
You make me wanna cry
You don't even know how to say goodbye
You make me wanna cry

Post Election

The results are out. My state is dominated by the opposition. Here's my 1 sen thoughts on why BN lost:

  • We have people like Zakaria Derus, who passed away recently
  • We have people like Khir Toyo
  • We have other people who act and think like Zakaria Darus
  • We are just plain fed up

Now we will wait and see for the next four years whether the new people can walk the talk. Hope they make changes to what was bad before and improve on what was good. Don't make changes for change sake.

To my former DUN, tu lah ko, bukan nak senyum bila masuk kedai, buat muka sombong t

Voting Day

Today is the day I'm going to vote for probably the 4th or 5th time. I know who I'm going to vote for and my vote is not influenced by the TV ads, flyers, CDs or bloggers. I know who I'm not going to vote for. I'll vote for a statesman not a politician.

Credit Cards

I had my first credit card way back in 1987 when I was doing my post graduate degree at the young age of 24. It was a Citibank Visa card and soon after I applied for Citibank Mastercard followed by American Express. Then I applied for two more departmental store cards, Macy's and Emporium Capwell. The credit limit for each card wasn't much but for a young immature guy like me it was enough.
When I started work I applied for a few credit cards and that was when all my financial troubles began. Being utterly foolish I paid the minumum required payment, charged more than the minimum payment and eventually I 'maxed' out on all my cards. One card I remember I 'maxed' out without even paying a single sen. Not that I didn't know it was an unwise thing to do, I just chose to ignore the truth, the real fact. People from the banks frequently called me at the office and at home. One came to my office a few times. Caller ID was not in existence during that time so I had this gushing fear whenever the phone rang at my house. I do still have this fear but for different reasons. Eventually, with a lot of prayers asking God to show me the way to get rid of all my debts, I paid all the outstanding balances on my cards. I got rid of all my cards and did not posses a single credit or debit card for about 6 - 8 years. Now I have a few cards but I'm at least wiser from the lessons learned.
Here are my thoughts on credit cards to remind me on how I should handle them. All of these thoughts are common sensical but in the past I tend to ignore them:
  • Pay in full, do not pay the minimum. If you can't afford to pay in full, pay more than the minimum. If not, don't charge the card on things that you do not need. If you chose to go for the 0% payment scheme, make sure you pay the monthly installment in full and perhaps pay a little bit more. If not the scheme is meaningless.
  • Always remember that the cards represent the cash that you have. It is not a pre-approved loan, money that you don't have
  • Make sure that you have more money in your savings than the combined credit limit of all your cards.
  • When you purchase something which cost let's say RM2500 using a card, immediately pay the amount the next day. Do not wait for the bill.
  • Try not to use the card especially when paying for food. Better still try not to use the credit card at all. Use it only for emergencies.
  • Never take out cash from your credit cards. The interests are just TMTH (too much to handle).

Watching the Suze Orman show I gathered that many Americans owe credit card companies big time. Some Americans spend more than what they earned. Especially in big cities people are trapped into living a lifestyle that they can't afford. They use credit cards even to pay for their coffee. It's like a must that they have to eat at fancy restaurants and buy designer clothes even when they can't afford to. They can't get breakfast for less than $5. Unlike in Malaysia, we are very much contented with a RM 4 breakfast.

I have a friend who took out a RM10,000 cash advance from his credit card to invest in a forex scam. He lost all his money and soon after he lost his job. Took years for him to pay back the money because of the interest incurred.

Things I need

These are a few things I need at the moment, well, things I wish I could buy now though they aren't neccesities:

  1. A PDA - taken a look at HTC TyTn or something and Samsung F7oo. Samsung looks more sleek. I need a PDA to keep information like bank acct no etc. I want something that allows me to retrieve those infos easily. I want a PDA where you slide out the keyboard or keypad or whatever you call.

  2. I need a 22" Computer Monitor. Currently using an old 14" bulky monitor.
  3. I also need a clothes steamer to replace the iron. It's easier to steam your clothes than to iron. But the price is RM800++.

  4. I need to go on a holiday, at least to Bali or Bangkok.

I have the money but I just do not want to spend it.

Election

Election day will be this Saturday. Not decided yet who I want to vote for. I may vote for BN, PAS or PKR. I will definitely not vote for the rocket. If Nenek Maimum were running in my constituent I'll definitely vote for her. You go girl!
